Our Preceptorship Programme

“Through preceptorship we must strive to nurture and develop our new registrants to develop life long careers in nursing” (Anna Keen, from DoH, 2009).

  • Our comprehensive preceptorship package is designed around:
  • Department of Health Preceptorship Framework (2009)
  • Nursing and Midwifery Council Preceptorship Guidelines (2006)
  • Recent literature

The structured framework allows nurses to develop as they find their feet within the field. We have 16 core competencies which our preceptor’s will guide new nurses through over the six month period. Once preceptorship is completed, nurses will gain a pay rise and will complete a small project aimed at improving our service, ensuring continuous review of practice. We also offer protected time for monthly CPD, supervision and peer support plus other benefits.
